Arkema Starts Up Next-Generation Acrylic Acid Purification Unit at Carling

Arkema started operating a new-generation acrylic acid purification unit at its Carling facility in France on October 8, 2026, according to project tracking by chemXplore.

The project was among 16 chemical industry projects that moved forward in the week to October 14, 2026, of which eight were announced, one entered front-end engineering design, one started construction, one started commissioning and five began operating.

Arkema announced plans for the next-generation acrylic acid purification unit at Carling earlier in 2026, describing it as an investment to reinforce its acrylics business in Europe.

Acrylic acid is a key raw material for superabsorbent polymers, coatings, adhesives and water-treatment chemicals.

The Carling site is one of Arkema's major industrial platforms in France and hosts a range of acrylics production and related activities.
