Arkema has started operating its next-generation acrylic acid purification unit at its Carling site in France, a milestone recorded in project tracking by chemXplore for the week of Oct. 14.
The new purification unit is designed to upgrade acrylic acid output at the Carling facility, which is one of Arkema's key European acrylics production sites.
The startup was listed among 16 chemical projects that moved in the week, five of which began operating. The Arkema unit began operating on Oct. 8.
The investment reflects continued industry focus on purifying and upgrading intermediate chemicals to serve high-value downstream applications such as coatings, adhesives and superabsorbents.
