Aurora delivers first pyrolysis bio-oil from restarted Empyro plant

Aurora Renewable Carbon restarted its Empyro plant and began operating the Biorefinery Twente in the Netherlands, with the milestone recorded on Oct. 9, 2026.

The company delivered its first pyrolysis bio-oil from the Empyro facility.

The restart was among the operating milestones tracked in the week to Oct. 14, 2026.

Pyrolysis bio-oil can serve as a renewable carbon feedstock for chemicals and fuels production, supporting substitution of fossil feedstocks.

The milestone forms part of a broader wave of biobased and circular project activity across Europe.
