CATL has started commissioning of its battery cell and module plant in Debrecen, Hungary. The plant will produce lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles and energy storage applications.
The Debrecen facility is part of CATL's European expansion strategy, supplying automakers with locally produced batteries to meet EU content requirements and reduce logistics costs.
Battery manufacturing in Europe has been growing rapidly, supported by automaker commitments to electrification and government incentives. The plant is one of several large battery factories under development in Hungary and neighboring countries.
