CDU politician Bjoern Franken said during the North Rhine-Westphalia state parliament debate that Evoniku2019s executive board had clearly rejected a BASF takeover. u201cThere has not yet been a binding takeover offer,u201d he said. He said the state government and state premier had clearly backed Evoniku2019s sites in NRW, supported preserving Evonik and made clear that BASF is u201cnot the right player in the system here.u201d Franken accused the SPD of fearmongering, saying it helps neither employees nor companies nor NRW as a business location.
