At least eight bisphenol A (BPA) units across China were offline or scheduled for maintenance in August 2026, with total capacity of approximately 1.8 million tonnes per year, according to OilChem data.
The August turnaround wave included Wanhua Chemical Group 576,000 t/y unit, which began a 45-day maintenance on August 10. Nantong Xingchen Synthetic Material 150,000 t/y and Shandong Fuyu Chemical 180,000 t/y units were scheduled for 30-day turnarounds starting August 25 and August 23, respectively. Huizhou Zhongxin Chemical Phase II 240,000 t/y unit experienced an unplanned shutdown on August 19.
Shanghai Sinopec Gaoqiao Chemical Materials 120,000 t/y unit restarted on August 19 after being shut since May 15. The duration of pending turnarounds at Nan Ya Plastics (Ningbo) and Shandong Ruilin Polymer Materials, along with the restart timing of Huizhou Zhongxin, will determine the extent of near-term supply tightness.
