Data reported on 2 November 2026 show Chinese heavy soda ash prices have fallen to about RMB 1,060 per tonne, with most production routes operating at a loss or below cash cost.
Jinjing Technology announced plans to shut 1.5 million tonnes of soda ash capacity, adding to the pace of high-cost capacity exits.
In methionine, market prices recovered to RMB 25.2 per kilogram, up RMB 3.2/kg from the September low. Xinhecheng quoted RMB 25.5/kg and Evonik RMB 26/kg.
In dyes, Zhejiang Longsheng raised prices again on 1 November, adding RMB 3,000-5,000 per tonne for reactive dyes. Thionyl chloride averaged RMB 6,100 per tonne, up 6.09 percent week on week.
Brokerage research cited by the report argued the price stabilisation reflects a real supply-side contraction rather than a temporary bounce, pointing to a cyclical turning point.
