ConocoPhillips Iraq Holdings Receives China SAMR Approval to Acquire BP Kirkuk Energy Shares

ConocoPhillips Iraq Holdings received unconditional approval from China's State Administration for Market Regulation to acquire shares in BP Kirkuk Energy Limited. The approval was listed in the SAMR's August 24-30, 2026 roundup of unconditionally approved concentration cases.

The transaction relates to oil and gas assets in the Kirkuk region of Iraq. Iraq is a major crude oil producer, and upstream acquisitions by international oil companies in the region can affect crude supply available to Asian refiners, including Chinese and other regional buyers.
