Danantara Investment Management, the Indonesia Investment Authority and PT Chandra Asri Pacific have completed a strategic investment transaction for the Chlor Alkali-Ethylene Dichloride (CA-EDC) project.
Led by Chandra Asri Group, the facility is designed to produce approximately 400 kilotonnes per annum (KTA) of caustic soda and 500 KTA of ethylene dichloride, two essential chemicals used across industrial applications. The project is expected to reduce reliance on imports and improve availability of critical raw materials for downstream industries, including Indonesia's bauxite and alumina value chain.
As of September 2026, construction was approximately 80% complete, with main equipment being installed and supporting infrastructure including the jetty, trestle and storage facilities under development. Commercial operations remain on track for 2027.
The project is expected to create approximately 3,000 construction jobs and 250 permanent operational positions. Chandra Asri Group operates a naphtha cracker in Cilegon with 0.9 million t/yr ethylene capacity and integrated assets on Bukom and Jurong Islands.
