ECHA seeks comments on screening report for MDA, Technical MDA and MOCA

The European Chemicals Agency is seeking comments on a draft screening report and relevant information on 4,4'-diaminodiphenylmethane (MDA), formaldehyde oligomeric reaction products with aniline (Technical MDA) and 2,2'-dichloro-4,4'-methylenedianiline (MOCA) in articles.

Under REACH Article 69(2), ECHA is investigating whether the use of these substances in articles is adequately controlled and whether a restriction is needed.

The consultation was announced in the latest chemicals news update for Northern Ireland dated October 14, 2026, which referenced a REACH update of October 7.

Interested parties have until November 18, 2026 to submit comments.

The outcome could add new restrictions affecting articles containing these amine-based substances, relevant to formulators and downstream users.
