SPD parliamentary group leader Jochen Ott said during the North Rhine-Westphalia state parliament debate on BASFu2019s potential takeover of Evonik that Evoniku2019s headquarters should remain in NRW. u201cDecisions made in Essen mean decisions made from NRW and for NRW,u201d he said. He called for binding employment and site guarantees with a reliable outlook for people and their families, and said a takeover must not be the first step toward gradual relocation of key functions. He also raised the possibility of state participation in Evonik if conditions are not met.
