The average glufosinate market price reached 70,000 yuan per tonne as of October 24, 2026, up 17.65% week on week and 57.30% year on year, according to Baichuan Yingfu data in a Bank of China International Securities report.
Supply was tight as the intermediate diethyl methylphosphonite remained in short supply, compounded by scheduled maintenance and technical upgrades at major producers. Factory inventories of glufosinate fell 4.90% week on week to 970 tonnes.
Demand improved as China's domestic off-season stockpiling began and South American inquiries became more active. Industry gross margin for glufosinate rose to 13,000 yuan per tonne, up 428.64% week on week.
The report expects glufosinate prices to remain firm to slightly stronger given tight spot supply. Other crop protection chemicals also firmed: glyphosate was quoted at 29,500 yuan per tonne and clethodim at 75,000 yuan per tonne.
In dye intermediates, H-acid prices rose to 250,000 yuan per tonne as environmental enforcement cut producer operating rates, and Zhejiang Longsheng's Hongsheng subsidiary issued a price increase letter for reduction products to 200,000 yuan per tonne.
