Honeywell Technologies announced a collaboration with Hengyi Industries to provide advanced process technologies, licensing, engineering, proprietary equipment, catalysts and technical support services for the second phase of the Pulau Muara Besar petrochemical project in Brunei.
The partnership aims to enhance efficiency and reliability while enabling production of higher-value petrochemicals. Upon completion of phase two, PMB will reach an annual crude-processing capacity of about 20 million metric tons.
The collaboration builds on the partnership from phase one, where Honeywell supplied process technologies, engineering design, key equipment, catalysts and adsorbents, operator training and technical services for startup and ongoing operations.
Hengyi's PMB complex is one of the largest single-site refinery and petrochemical investments in Southeast Asia. The expansion is intended to deepen the site's integration between refining and downstream chemicals production.
The announcement reflects continued investment in Southeast Asian petrochemical capacity even as European producers rationalize commodity operations.
