Honeywell to supply process technology for Hengyi's Brunei Phase II expansion

Honeywell Technologies announced a collaboration with Hengyi Industries to provide advanced process technologies, licensing, engineering, proprietary equipment, catalysts and technical support for the second phase of the Pulau Muara Besar (PMB) petrochemical project in Brunei, according to an Oct. 19, 2026 report.

Upon completion of Phase II, PMB is expected to reach an annual crude-processing capacity of approximately 20 million metric tons. The expansion includes hydrocracking, aromatics and dehydrogenation facilities expected to rank among the world's largest of their kind.

Honeywell UOP will deploy CCR Platforming, Unicracking, Unionfining, Butamer and C4 Oleflex technologies, alongside a full aromatics complex based on light desorbent Parex technology.

The partnership builds on Phase I, for which Honeywell supplied process technologies, engineering design, key equipment, catalysts and adsorbents, operator training and technical services. "The successful implementation of Honeywell Technologies solutions in Phase I helped Hengyi further strengthen its integrated refining and petrochemical value chain," said Hengyi CEO Chen Liancai.
