Honeywell Technologies announced on October 12, 2026, that it was selected by Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) to provide licensing and engineering services for a new aromatics complex in Bahrain.
The project will be developed at GPIC's existing industrial complex in Sitra and is expected to produce approximately 1.2 million metric tons of paraxylene and 500,000 metric tons of benzene annually.
The complex will use Honeywell UOP's naphtha hydrotreating, CCR Platforming and LDPX Aromatics Complex technologies. Paraxylene and benzene are feedstocks for plastics, polyester fibers and packaging materials.
Honeywell UOP's scope includes licensing, engineering services, catalysts, adsorbents and equipment.
The companies have an existing relationship covering pressure swing adsorption, adsorbents and process automation at GPIC's ammonia and methanol facilities.
