JOGMEC's Ship-Based Advanced CCS initiative commissioned design work for a shared carbon capture and storage value chain at Mizushima, Japan, targeting approximately 3.43 million tonnes per year of shipped CO2, according to a weekly industry roundup.
The project is among several Asian CCS cluster initiatives aimed at decarbonizing industrial complexes that include refining, petrochemicals and power generation. Ship-based CO2 transport is seen as a solution for emitters without access to nearby geological storage.
