Long-idled bisphenol A units in China during January-July 2026 included Luxi Chemical Group's 200,000 tonnes per year plant, Huizhou Zhongxin Chemical's 40,000 tonnes per year plant, and China Pingmei Shenma Energy Chemical Group's 130,000 tonnes per year unit, according to OilChem data.
The Pingmei Shenma unit was shut on October 24, 2025, and restarted at the end of June 2026. Persistent idling of older, less competitive BPA capacity reflects the pressure of oversupply and weak margins in the Chinese BPA market, even as new large-scale units come online.
