MOL Group Plc. inaugurated its first biomethane plant in Szarvas, Hungary, on October 14, 2026. The investment exceeded HUF 2.7 billion, or around $8.3 million.

The facility produces biomethane from biogas at a purity suitable for injection into the national natural gas network. It processes more than 40,000 metric tons per year of waste from the region's meat industry.

An additional 53,000 metric tons per year of residual waste is sourced from neighboring livestock and meat-processing facilities, and about 18,000 metric tons of agricultural substrate is used as biogas feedstock.
