North American weekly chemical rail traffic held steady during the last week of the third quarter, according to data from the Association of American Railroads. For the week ended Oct. 3, chemical railcar volume in North America totaled 47,000 carloads. The following week ended Oct. 10 showed further strengthening compared with year-ago levels. Rail data is a key near-term indicator of chemical production and shipment activity.
