PetroChina Jilin Petrochemical and Shandong Ruilin Polymer Materials each brought 240,000 tonnes per year of new bisphenol A (BPA) capacity online in China, according to OilChem data. The new capacity totaled 480,000 tonnes per year.
Despite the new capacity, China's cumulative BPA production loss volume fell 7.14% year-on-year to 338,200 tonnes in January-July 2026, as turnarounds and unplanned outages offset additions. The August turnaround wave removed approximately 1.8 million tonnes per year of capacity from the market, tightening near-term supply.
