Polyurethane majors BASF, Wanhua, Huntsman and Dow raise MDI and TDI prices

Several international chemical companies including BASF, Wanhua Chemical, Huntsman and Dow have issued price adjustment announcements for polyurethane products, covering ASEAN, South Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India.

BASF raised Lupranate MDI and TDI prices in ASEAN and South Asian countries by $250/mt from September 11. Wanhua raised MDI, TDI and polyether polyol prices in Southeast and South Asia by $300-$400/mt from September 14.

Huntsman raised all MDI product prices in the EMEAI region by €285/mt from October 1. Dow Europe had already raised polyol, MDI and polyurethane system prices in EMEAI from late August.

Companies cited continued increases in raw material, transportation and energy costs as the main driver of the increases.

Industry analysts expect the firm global trend in MDI and TDI to continue given cost-side pressure in major overseas production regions.
