Rompetrol Rafinare will add a photovoltaic power plant with an energy storage system at its Vega Ploiesti refinery in Romania for self-consumption, according to a weekly industry roundup.
The project is part of a trend among refiners and chemical producers to install on-site renewable generation and storage to reduce electricity costs and Scope 2 emissions. European industrial electricity prices remain elevated, making self-generation economically attractive.
