Solvay Cuts 2026 Guidance on Sadara Peroxide Plant Shutdown

Solvay released preliminary Q3 2026 results on Oct. 19, 2026. Underlying net sales were 1.03 billion euros, underlying EBITDA was 173 million euros, and free cash flow to Solvay shareholders from continuing operations was 54 million euros. Figures remain subject to completion of the quarter-end closing process.

The Middle East conflict had a negative impact of about 25 million euros on Q3 2026 underlying EBITDA, after roughly 20 million euros in Q2 2026. The main driver was the continued shutdown of the peroxide plant at the Sadara complex in Jubail, Saudi Arabia, which accounted for close to 15 million euros of the Q3 impact.

Solvay operates in Jubail through a joint venture with Sadara, which is itself majority-owned by Saudi Aramco. Solvay said it is exploring all available avenues to mitigate the financial impact, noting the JV contractual framework includes mechanisms designed to recover lost profitability.

Updated full-year 2026 guidance, excluding potential revenue or recovery measures from Sadara for the rest of the year, is underlying EBITDA of 720-740 million euros and free cash flow to shareholders from continuing operations of 120-150 million euros, net of about 90 million euros of transformation expenses.

Solvay said it remains committed to its transformation, cash generation and cost-savings targets. It will not comment further during the quiet period ahead of publishing full Q3 results on Nov. 4, 2026.
