Stamicarbon advanced its LAUNCH MELT urea plant in Canada to the FEED (front-end engineering design) stage, according to a weekly industry roundup. The LAUNCH MELT technology is designed to reduce energy consumption in urea production.
Urea is a key nitrogen fertilizer and industrial chemical. New capacity in Canada would serve North American agricultural markets and potentially export demand. Stamicarbon is the licensing arm of Maire Tecnimont and a leading supplier of urea process technology.
