On 19 October 2026, the UK's Health and Safety Executive (HSE) officially added nine categories, covering 23 substances, to the UK REACH Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern.
The update spans multiple substance classes, including flame retardants, plasticizers, UV absorbers and fluorinated compounds, further expanding the scope of the UK SVHC list.
Listing on the candidate list triggers information obligations along the supply chain and notification requirements, and is a step toward possible authorisation requirements.
Companies supplying or importing affected substances or articles into Great Britain should review their product portfolios and customer communications.
The UK list now runs separately from the EU REACH candidate list following Brexit, so suppliers may need to comply with both regimes.
