Deepak Nitrite announced that its affiliate Deepak Chem Tech Ltd. has commissioned manufacturing operations at its new chlorination and specialty chemicals plant in Dahej, Gujarat state, according to a ChemWeek report published Oct. 14.
The total capital expenditure for the project is about ₹3 billion, or roughly $31.1 million. The company did not disclose further details about the plant's capacity or product portfolio.
The commissioning adds chlorination capacity to Deepak Nitrite's specialty chemicals operations, which serve agrochemical, pharmaceutical, polymer and other downstream markets from sites in western India.
The investment comes as Indian specialty chemical producers continue to add capacity to capture demand from multinational customers diversifying supply chains away from China.
