Indian polyester raw material prices declined in the latest revision effective October 17, 2026, with Reliance Industries Limited cutting purified terephthalic acid and polyester melt prices amid volatility in Asian petrochemical markets.
RIL revised its domestic PTA price down by 3.40 rupees per kilogram to 107.60 rupees, from 111 rupees, effective October 17. Polyester melt was quoted at 116.91 rupees per kilogram, compared with 119.89 rupees on October 16. MEG remained unchanged at 71.70 rupees per kilogram.
Compared with October 10 levels, PTA was lower by 3.40 rupees, MEG by 7 rupees and polyester melt by 5.31 rupees.
In the international market, CFR China PTA was quoted at 970 dollars per tonne on October 16, down 10 dollars from the previous day, while MEG increased marginally by 2 dollars to 690 dollars per tonne. PTA had surged 75 dollars to 1,010 dollars per tonne on October 8 after the National Day holidays.
Crude oil movements remained an important factor influencing upstream petrochemical costs, while subdued yarn demand shaped the outlook for polyester feedstock markets.
